Clinton Jephta Ends Goal Drought with Historic UEFA Conference League Winner

Jephta has enjoyed an outstanding rise since arriving in Turku on loan from Nigeria in April.

The former Flying Eagles winger quickly broke into the first team, establishing himself as a key player in the Finnish top flight with a string of impressive performances and goal contributions.

However, after Inter Turku activated the purchase option in his loan agreement with Niger Tornadoes, committing him to the club until the end of the 2028 season, his attacking returns temporarily dried up.

His last direct goal contribution came on May 30, when he provided an assist in Inter Turku’s 1-1 draw against KuPS.

Since then, Jephta had gone seven consecutive matches without a goal or an assist before Inter Turku hosted FK Sarajevo in the second leg of their UEFA Conference League qualifying tie.

With the contest level at 1-1, the Nigerian winger stepped up in dramatic fashion, scoring the winning goal late in the match to seal his side’s progression to the next round.

The strike was Jephta’s first-ever goal in UEFA competition, making the moment even more special as it arrived when his team needed it most.

The former Flying Eagles star has now registered nine goal contributions in 19 appearances, scoring four goals and providing five assists across all competitions.

Initially expected to remain on loan until 2027, Jephta’s move was made permanent after his impressive breakthrough, securing his services until the end of the 2028 season.

Inter Turku Come From Behind to Eliminate FK Sarajevo

Inter Turku fought back to claim a 2-1 victory over FK Sarajevo on Thursday, sealing a 3-2 aggregate success to reach the next qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League.

After earning a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Finnish club took advantage of home support at Veritas Stadion.

FK Sarajevo struck first in the 22nd minute through Francis Kyeremeh and carried their slender advantage into halftime.

Inter Turku responded just before the hour mark as Alie Conteh restored parity.

With extra time looming, Jephta produced the defining moment of the night, calmly scoring the match-winning goal in the 87th minute to spark celebrations among the home supporters.

Inter Turku held firm through the closing stages to complete a resilient comeback and keep their European campaign alive after overcoming the disappointment of conceding a stoppage-time equaliser in the first leg.
