Fisayo Dele-Bashiru Scores as Lazio End Serie A Season with Victory Over Pisa
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru capped off the 2025-26 Serie A season in style, finding the back of the net as Lazio secured a hard-fought 2-1 win over Pisa at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday evening.
The Nigerian midfielder played a crucial role in Lazio’s comeback victory, helping the Biancocelesti overturn an early deficit against a Pisa side that had already been relegated from the Italian top flight.
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru Leads Lazio’s Comeback Against Pisa
Lazio fell behind in the 23rd minute when Moreo connected with a precise delivery from Michel Aebischer to head the visitors into the lead.
However, Dele-Bashiru responded ten minutes later with a calm finish following an impressive team move orchestrated by Belahyane. His goal restored parity and shifted the momentum in Lazio’s favour.
Just two minutes after the equaliser, Pedro completed the turnaround with the winning goal, ensuring Lazio finished their campaign on a positive note.
The season was not without difficulties for Fisayo Dele-Bashiru. Fitness setbacks and his involvement with Nigeria during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations limited his playing opportunities during the first half of the campaign.
Dele-Bashiru Finishes Season Strong Despite Early Challenges
Following his return from international duty, Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri showed confidence in the midfielder by including him in every matchday squad for the remainder of the season.
The Nigeria international featured in all matches after his return, except for a goalless draw against Cagliari where he remained an unused substitute.
While Fisayo Dele-Bashiru ended the season on a high, Lazio narrowly missed out on European qualification after finishing ninth in the Serie A table.
Their hopes were further dashed by defeat to Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia final.
Elsewhere, fellow Nigerian midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro is expected to join the Super Eagles squad for the 2026 Unity Cup.
