The Executive Chairman of Ahaoda East Local Government Council, Benjamin Eke, welcomed the Ahoada East Athletes at the Council Secretariat on Tuesday, October 17, 2023.

The Executive Chairman deemed it fit to recognize and appreciate the team’s excellence after winning a total of 32 medals (11 Gold Medals, 12 Silver Medals and nine Bronze Medals) to emerge the overall best in the just concluded MTN Champs Athletic Competition held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Edo State.

He said that the Athlete’s outstanding performance at the Making of Champions MTN Champ Athletic Competition which saw the team ranked first out of the multiple teams that took part in the competition has further demonstrated the indomitable spirit of an average Ahoada East person and the great heights they can attain with hard work, commitment, dedication and courage, if given the necessary support.

The Executive Chairman rewarded all the medalists, allotting a sum of N800,000 to the Team, N50,000 for every gold medal, N30,000 for every silver medal and N20,000 for every bronze medal.

He finished off by urging the young athletes to always incorporate their sporting excellence with studies.
