Finima Community has asserted that despite the attacks on her people, properties and residents on June 10, 2021, it remains undaunted in demanding recognition as the hosts of several multinationals on its land.
Amadabo of Finima, Aseme Alabo Dagogo Lambert Brown, Kongo XVII, made this assertion at a memorial event to mark the second anniversary of the June 10, 2021 incident.
Describing the incident as “unfortunate”, Brown stated that it has now become a significant milestone in the history of Finima Community which they cannot forget, insisting, however, that such attacks would no longer be condoned.
“There are certain significant milestones in our history that we cannot choose to forget. Such impactful event of the 10th of June, 2021 is a monumental milestone incident from which lots of lessons are being learnt, especially, the deepened extent of envy exhibited by our brothers in the neighbourhood.”
“We have as well as devised diverse strategic defensive positions because never again would we permit such heinous attack on Finima people.”
He attributed the incident to attempts to hush its agitation for lawful recognition as host community of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG), noting, however, that it should be viewed as God’s handiwork to achieve his divine purpose for the community and her people.
“As leaders it is our duty to set the tone and rhythm for this memorial song for our children to sing and meditate thereon and extract wisdom to live their lives.”
“Nothing has just happened around us; they are all ordained by God to actualize his purpose for us as a people and as a community.”
He emphasised that the Finima Capacity Development Committee (FCDC) remains the special purpose vehicle (SPV) for driving the community’s developmental aspirations and interest, adding that multinationals in Finima Community should engage the Committee and do the needful as provided by law.
“It will be recalled that the June 10 incident is a product of our host community recognition and local content demands driven by the FCDC.”
“FCDC is a frontier that represents our interest as a community, being saddled with the responsibility of engaging with all corporate entities operating and doing business in Finima Community with the aim to maximise the benefits available in relation to statutory obligations placed on corporate entities.”
Delivering his homily at the event, President of High Calling Outreach, Dr Steve Ogan described Finima as a land of advancement, admiration and is in its season of blessings, announcing that every battle in battleground against is already in its favour, while praying for God’s blessings on the land.
Representatives of different strata of the Finima society; youths, women, men and the FCDC spoke on their experiences during the June 10, 2021 incident, expressing the hope that such experience would never repeat on Finima soil again.
