WAMASON Felicitates with Nigerians at Eid el Fitr, Advocates Environmental Sustainability

The Waste Management Society of Nigeria (WAMASON) has felicitated with Nigerians, especially, the Islamic faithful, on the occasion of Eid el Fitr celebration, reminding them of the need to protect the environment.

President of WAMASON, Chief Akpabio Ndarake Esien, AmbGW, in a statement made exclusively available to Kristina Reports, congratulated Nigerians on the auspicious occasion, noting that “it reminds us of the need to manage our wastes effectively with the aim to ensure that they do not impact negatively on our environment”.

“WAMASON felicitates with all Nigerians, especially, the Muslim Ummah, on the auspicious occasion and pray Nigeria will continue to witness greater blessings and prosperity. But it is important to note the high importance of keep our surroundings clean, managing our waste effectively, and watching our health.

“Suffice to say that every celebration inevitably produces wastes from food, drinks and other consumables. It will be to the glory of Allah, the Most Beneficent, and the Most Merciful, that we keep our environment clean and help to protect it.

He called on the management of mosques and venues where the Eid el Fitr celebrations would be holding to emplace proper waste management protocols during and beyond the Sallah holidays, urging them to partner with WAMASON in its quest to enthrone best practices in waste management.

Chief Esien, a waste management professional, is also a corporate health, safety and environment expert, with experience in environmental management and sustainability spanning several years.

Eid al-Fitr is the earlier of the two official holidays celebrated within Islam. The religious holiday is celebrated by Muslims worldwide because it marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan.
