Wike, Fubara, King Dandeson, Others for Anglican Synod in Bonny

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, his deputy, Dr Ipalibo Banigo, Governor Elect, Siminialayi Fubara, as well as, the Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of Opobo Kingdom, His Majesty, King Dandeson Douglas Jaja, Jeki V, will lead other high profile guests to the 3rd Session of the 5th Synod of the Anglican Communion in Bonny, Rivers State.

A statement by the Diocesan Communicator, Lizzy Fombo informed that the Synod which theme is “That They May All Be One” with reference to John 17:21, and billed for Wednesday, April 26 to Sunday, 30, 2023 at the St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Abalamabie, Bonny, will host more than 600 delegates.

Fombo further informed that the Bishop of the Niger Delta Diocese, Reverend Emmanuel Oko-Jaja, PhD, accompanied by his wife, Chinyere Oko-Jaja, PhD, would preside over the Synod, which is regarded as the highest decision making body in the Diocese.

She stated that on arrival in Bonny on Wednesday, April 26, Bishop Oko-Jaja, and his entourage will pay courtesy visits on the Chairman of Bonny LGA, Dame Anengi Wilcox, and the Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of Bonny Kingdom, His Majesty, King Dr Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, CON, JP, Perekule XI at the Government Lodge and King Perekule Palace, respectively.

The statement further announced that the Guest Preacher, Rt. Rev. John Aruakpor, who is also the Bishop of Oleh Diocese of the Anglican Communion in Delta State, will espouse on the theme of the Synod, which according to her “is geared towards fostering peace in the body of Christ in fulfilment of the Great Commission”.

Other activities to be featured in the Synod include launching and reading of the Presidential Address by his Lordship, Bible Expositions, Business Symposiums, and Communique Reading, among others, adding that the proceeds from the launching of the Presidential Address will be used in setting up a printing press for the Diocese estimated at a cost of over N40million.

Fombo stated that the Synod will hit a climax on Sunday, April 30, 2023 with a Thanksgiving Service at the same venue, encouraging all Anglican faithful, delegates, and captains of industry to attend this epoch making event as it promises to be memorable.
