Monarch Kicks Off Amanyanabo Cup Finals as Ibani FC Tackles Godbless FC

As the chase for the ultimate prize of N3 million hots up between Ibani FC and Godbless FC at today’s finals of the Amanyanabo Football Tournament, Kristina Reports can authoritatively report that the grand patron of the competition, the Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom would be taking the kick off.

The kick off of the finals is billed for 3pm this afternoon at the Government School field along Shell Road, Bonny. The winning team would go home with N3million while the first and second runners-up will grab N2million and N1million each, respectively.

Sources close to the King Perekule Palace hinted Kristina Reports that His Majesty, King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, CON, JP, DSSRS, Perekule XI, who doubles as the Ama-na-Koroma (Natural Ruler) of Grand Bonny Kingdom would grace the occasion.

Other top guests expected at the finals include the Chairman of Bonny LGA, Dame Anengi Barasua, Managing Director of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG), Dr. Philip Mshelbila, ex-Super Eagles greats, football scouts from Europe and South America, and former national team coaches, amongst others.

On the road to Finals, Ibani FC trounced Adventurers FC 3-0, while Godbless FC walloped Beautiful Strikers FC 6-5 on penalties on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 to secure their place at the Finals.

Beautiful Strikers vented their anger for not reaching the Finals on Adventurers FC, thumping them with a 3-0 win to emerge third place finalists and clinch the N1 million prize for second runner-up.

The tournament, which is gradually representing a watershed in sports development on the island, is sponsored by Africa’s gas giant, the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG) as a corporate social responsibility initiative in conjunction with global entertainment firm, Graftons Entertainment.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Graftons Entertainment, Tonye Ibiama told Kristina Reports that everyone is in high spirits to see the finals, which he promised would be “spicy, entertaining, exhilarating and crunchy” and “a must watch”.

He called on all football lovers in and around Bonny Island to converge at the Government School field in Bonny to enjoy spectacular soccer before going to watch the FIFA World Cup Finals, Qatar 2022.
