We’re Working with BUC to Resolve Distressing Power Situation – BKDC

The Bonny Kingdom Development Committee (BKDC) has appealed to residents of Bonny Island to be patient with the Bonny Utility Company as both organizations work to resolve the deplorable power situation in the area.

Chairman of BKDC, Amairigha Hart made this appeal on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 in a telephone chat with Kristina Reports in Bonny, Rivers State.

Power outages has recently become recurrent decimal in the Island with several businesses negatively impacted, residents losing appliances and night life becoming crippled.

Hart informed that active engagements with the management of the BUC were ongoing over the past weeks with imminent escalations to the Board of BUC, assuring that there would soon be a way forward out of the quagmire.

“We had an engagement with BUC over this issue in the last two weeks and have also scheduled a meeting with the BUC Board to deliberate on the way forward.”

“We will definitely proffer a solution, all hands being on deck. This can’t continue, as it will place us in a very distressed situation.”

He further informed that the BKDC also plans to reach out to the international oil companies (IOCs) in the Island to seek their support in addressing the situation.

The BKDC Chairman empathized with residents of the area, especially, business owners on the impact on their lives and businesses, appealing for understanding and patience, stressing that frantic efforts were ongoing to address the situation in the shortest possible time.

The Bonny Kingdom Development Committee (BKDC), which was established by the Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of Bonny Kingdom as a special purpose vehicle, is the coordinating institution for strategic development of Bonny Kingdom.

It works with coordinate kingdom institutions such as the Bonny Kingdom Titled Citizens Assembly, Bonny Women Forum, Bonny Youth Federation, and Bonny Chamber of Commerce, amongst others to actualize the development vision of the Bonny Monarch.
