We’re Satisfied – BKDC Says After Road Expansion, Vehicular Terminal Projects Inspection

The Bonny Kingdom Development Committee (BKDC) says it is satisfied with what it has seen so far at the Bonny Road Expansion (BRE) and Bonny Vehicular Terminal (BVT) projects.

Chairman of BKDC’s Technical Committee, Biekpo Chapp-Jumbo said this on Saturday, May 16, 2026 during an interview with Kristina Reports shortly after an inspection tour of both projects by the Committee in Bonny, Rivers State.

“Everybody should go and sleep and rest because BKDC is on top of it. We are satisfied with the level of what we have seen. Yes, we’re okay with that. Though, corrections that need to be made will be done.”

He also expressed confidence in the capacity and competence of the BKDC to deliver on its mandate of coordinating development across Bonny Kingdom, assuring that the Committee will ensure that bot the BRE and BVT will succeed.

“His Majesty has given the blessing to BKDC to do the job, and BKDC to the best of her strength will deliver. We have managed to get to the level we are now.”

The Bonny Road Expansion (BRE) project is being implemented by Evomec Global Services Limited (EGSL) while the Bonny Vehicular Terminal (BVT) project is being implemented by Chairborne Global Services Limited (CGSL).

Addressing the Committee, Project Manager of the BRE project, Oboho Asanwana expressed its gratitude for the sit visit, noting that it provided his company the opportunity to provide updates on the work done so far, assuring that it would continue to adhere to the project design and specifications.

Also speaking with Kristina Reports, the Project Engineer for Chairborne GSL, Emmanuel Mbonu acknowledged that the BVT is a turnkey project, assuring that Chairborne will deliver the project within agreed timelines and in a qualitative way.

“Chairborne Global Services is committed to quality, that’s our core value. So, I would urge everybody to be rest assured that we would deliver this project in a timely manner, safe and to the best of quality.”

“So far, so good; just as we’ve done a walkthrough, the bush clearing is currently in progress, near completion. We’re currently at the dump site. We’ve done the area which we’re going to receive the dredging materials.”

“The bond wall is done. The grubbing is done. We’ve ascertained the level as required. So, we hope that the BKDC team is going to also come back to verify this.”

The Bonny Road Expansion project begins from the gate of the Bonny Oil and Gas Terminal and culminates at the Coal Beach with a spur off from Amaomu Junction through Court Road and terminates at the King Perekule Palace on the Northern axis and the Captain Hart House Opuwari on the Eastern flank.

BKDC had earlier informed that the 2.7-kilometer dual carriage road will have drainage systems and pedestrian walkways on both flanks, streetlights, four roundabouts, traffic lights, speed breakers, close circuit television cameras, and fibre optic cables underneath.  

On the other hand, the Bonny Vehicular Terminal is a 500 by 500 feet drop-off terminal to serve variegated uses such as cargo evacuation, heavy duty vehicles park, and inter-state bus terminal, among others.

The Technical Committee Chairman was accompanied on the inspection by the Chairman, Amairigha Edward Hart, and other members of the BKDC, and the project oversight team from the project sponsor, the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG), among others.
