The Vice Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Anengi Barasua has alleged that some politicians in concert with some military personnel attempted to hijack the results and election materials from Ward 8, Bonny LGA.

Barasua who hails from Greens-Iwoama, Ward 8, Bonny LGA said this happened while the election was ongoing.
According to her, they arrived in a gunboat to disrupt the polls in the area but failed.
She explained that patriotic individuals in the community resisted the attempt by the people she referred to as “some elements from the other party,” even at the risk of their lives as the soldiers opened fire in an attempt to scare away the people.
Barasua, who party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won in her Ward, stated that the people of the area escorted the election results and materials alongside the INEC adhoc staff back to INEC office in Bonny Town.

Reactions have trailed the incident as an indigene of the community who prefers anonymity said, “I am shocked that this could happen even after the PDP and APC signed an accord at the King’s palace to maintain peace during the election. Politicians should desist from desperation. If you don’t win to day, you may win tomorrow”.
