The newly elected President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, SAN has been called upon to raise the bar of jurisprudence during his stint as leader of Nigerian lawyers both at home and in the diaspora.
Chairman of the Ukwa Branch of the NBA, Chinonso Nwosu made this call while congratulating the incoming President of the NBA in a statement on Sunday, August 28, 2022 signed by the Publicity Secretary of the Branch, Fubara Longjohn and made available to Kristina Reports.

Maikyau, SAN was inaugurated as the 31st President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) at its 62nd Annual General Conference in Lagos on Saturday, August 27, 2022 in Lagos.
The Chairman, while praising the outgoing Executive led by Olumide Akpata for a successful tenure, encouraged the new President, his Executives and Members of the General Council of the Bar to “go about their duty without fear or favour”, assuring of the support of the Ukwa Branch.
“On behalf of the executives and members of Ukwa Branch, I congratulate the newly sworn in President, Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, SAN, his Executives and General Council of the bar on their assumption of office.”
“Indeed, this is the will of God! I also urge all Lawyers to work with the new administration to bring about the success of the Bar.”

The Ukwa Branch is one of the 125 branches of the Nigerian Bar Association spread across the country and comprises legal practitioners in Ukwa East, Ukwa West and Aba LGAs of Abia State, and Oyigbo LGA and Port Harcourt City in Rivers State.
