Tragedy struck in the early hours of Tuesday, April 22, 2025 as a Police Inspector and security aide to a former Mayor of Port Harcourt, Maxwell Zabu allegedly shot himself dead.

The incident happened at the residence of a former Mayor of Port Harcourt Local Government Area, Victor Ihunwo, at Eagle Island in Port Harcourt.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear at the time of filing this report.

Kristina Reports reliably learnt that the case was promptly reported to the Eagle Island police post, which is under the Azikiwe Police Division in Illoabuchi, Mile 2, Diobu.

Detectives from the Division were said to have visited the scene as part of preliminary investigations.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Olugbenga Adepoju, has reportedly ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Port Harcourt, for further investigation.
