Delivering his homily at well attended event, Group Pastor in-charge of Abuloma Group, Port Harcourt Zone 2 of Believers Loveworld, also known as Christ Embassy, Pastor Oforiokuma Kwani, eulogized the predilection of the deceased to service to God and humanity.

In his homily titled “Service to the Lord”, the cleric quoting from Romans 1: 9; Colossians 3:23,24; and 2 Timothy 4: 1-6 enjoined Christians to emulate the life and deeds of the late Gibson Dan-Jumbo, who he described as an epitome of everything that is good.

“The most important thing in life is service to God. Life is much more than normal routines, serving God is the ultimate. Note also that service to God will be rewarded and service to God is time-bound. A time will come when you cannot serve God.”

“Brother Gibson served God diligently under leadership because he understood that he was doing it for God. We are gathered here to celebrate a man that has gone to glory.”

Earlier, Innocent Ebino, speaking on behalf of the Noble Men Cell of the church, extolled the virtues of the late Gibson Dan-Jumbo, describing him as faithful, consistent, humble, focused on excellence, and passionate about the things of God”.

In his words, “Whatever you ask Brother Gibson to do, he will do it no matter who you are whether older or younger. He was very humble. He was full of passion and even the day he passed on he was kabashing all through.”

In his tribute titled “To A Father Who Was Also My Mother, Anyi!”, which was read by his wife, Mrs. Christy Dan-Jumbo, first son of the late sage and a former Technical Assistant to the Executive Director of the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA), Clinton Dan-Jumbo explored the conviviality and compassion that bestrode the relationship between him and his late father from childhood.

He extolled the sacrificial life of his father which did not only capture his family but even people outside, praising his commitment to the wellbeing of his fellow humans, especially, with regards to human capital development.

You constantly reminded me that no one must be left behind; you neglected yourself to clothe us, most times you refused to eat so we could eat. You amazed us even as you extended your sacrifice to outsiders, giving out money we did not have to families so their children were not thrown out of school. We knew your heart was in education.”

On his part, another of the deceased’s son and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DavFub Group of Companies, Dr. Fubara Dan-Jumbo, eulogized his late father, noting that “You were more than a father, you were my role model, my mentor, my brother, my converter to Christ, my goal setter and my motivator”.

“Daddy, Daddy, I still remember how you got me off from…chasing birds to focus on chasing books. You are an epitome of a focused man.”

“Daddy left an impact on every person he met, even strangers. The love my Dad spread on this Earth continues to grow and will live on, and that is the ultimate measure of any human being.”

Elder Gibson Gabriel Dan-Jumbo, the last surviving direct descendant of Dan Jene, the progenitor of the Dan-Jumbo Chieftaincy House of Grand Bonny Kingdom, was a former senior staff of Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), an astute and accomplished entrepreneur, and devout follower of Christ.

In his sojourn of service and devotion to God, he had served in various capacities in the Divine Order of Cherubim and Seraphim, Deeper Christian Life Ministry (DCLM), Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministry (MFM), and Believers’ Loveworld, aka, Christ Embassy, where he expressed his profound love for God Almighty and demonstrated Christian love towards his fellow faithful.
