Titled Citizens Assembly Donates Cash Gifts in Support for Education

In an inspiring demonstration of its commitment to Education, the Bonny Kingdom Titled Citizens Assembly (TCA) has donated the sum of N1 million in scholarship grants to support indigent students of Bonny LGA in different tertiary institutions across the country.

Presenting the cheques to the beneficiaries on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Ibani-Se Hall in Bonny, Rivers State, President of the TCA, Amaopusenibo Furosia Wilcox highlighted the critical role Education plays in the lives of students.

A total of 10 students from various tertiary institutions emerged as beneficiaries of the scholarship programme after the rigorous selection process. Each of them got N100,000 to support their academic quests.

They are Hart, Emmanuel from Dema-Abbey, studying Electrical Engineering at Rivers State University, Nkpolu Oroworukwo; Allison, Kelvin Asiya from Oloma, studying Animal and Environmental Biology at University of Port Harcourt, Choba; Henry, Deborah

Funmi from Greens Iwoama, studying Political and Administrative Studies at University of Port Harcourt, Choba; Jumbo, Marvel Monday from Georgekiri, studying Mechanical Engineering at Rivers State University, Nkpolu Oroworukwo; and Weekse-Pepple, Wiu Tamunodienye, who hails from Otobie, and studying Physics with Electronics at University of Port Harcourt, Choba.

Others are LongJohn, Somieari Aminia, from Abalamabie, studying Electrical Engineering Rivers State University, Nkpolu Oroworukwo; Abbey, Lolia Sopirinye from Dema-Abbey, studying Integrated Science and Education at Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE); Brown, Miebi Emmanuella from Finima, studying Electrical Engineering at Rivers State University, Nkpolu Oroworukwo; Wilcox, Tamunoipirinye Ruth from Ayama (Peterside), studying History and Diplomatic Studies at University of Port Harcourt, Choba; and Attoni, Iju Emmanuel, who hails from Finima and studying Fine and Applied Arts at Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE).

He urged the scholarship recipients to seize what he described as “this life-changing opportunity”, and strive for excellence, emphasizing the transformative power of Education in shaping the future of students.

“Today the 30th day of March 2024, the titled citizens had our first general meeting in the year which usually comes up at this time of the season that’s the Easter season every year today we also carried out our initiative of education grants to students in the tertiary institutions.”

“The body of titled citizens in Bonny kingdom, looking at every one of us we are blessed by God in our various endeavors in life and the titled citizen feel that we should also give back to the Kingdom in whatever form we choose to do so.”

“And for now we thought doing education grants to support the indigents students of Bonny extraction in the tertiary institutions would be the right way to go and then we charged our education and human capital development committee to source for the ten beneficiaries.”

Commending the Committee that handled the selection process for a job well done, the TCA President noted that as a lawyer by training and a dedicated advocate for Education, the Assembly under his watch has taken significant steps towards fostering academic excellence and alleviating the financial burdens on deserving students.

“The Committee diligently did that and they carried out a transparent process that has produced the ten pioneer beneficiaries of the titled citizen assembly education grant.”

“And obviously, I should say we are expecting more and we hope everything will continue to go as we make progress.”

In an interview with Kristina Reports, one of the beneficiaries, Hart Emmanuel Dagogo stated that the grant will go a long way in paying some bills and give the students a stable ground for conducive learning.

“My name is Hart Emmanuel Dagogo from the Rivers State University, Electrical Engineering.”

“I’m very happy about this grant. Prior to this time, we had lots of things to pay for but this N100,000 given today will cover for a lot, at least, giving me a stable ground in my academy.”

“I’m very grateful to the TCA and the committee and I pray God bless them and If this can continue it will be of great help to many students out there because when our parents send us to school they expect us to study and come out with good grades.”

“But if yours not financially backed up that is not possible so a big thank you to the committee and TCA. And I believe the next one will be better than this now.”
