Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, in the company of his three assistants, Maykel Moreria, Acacio Santos and Vito Hugo, arrived in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on Sunday November 12, 2023.
The team, which was welcomed by the Chairman of Akwa Ibom State Football Normalization Committee, Prince Bonny Nyong, are in Uyo ahead of the Super Eagles 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against the Likuena of Lesotho.
The duel between the Super Eagles and Likuena, which football pundits predict would be a tought tie, is taking place on Thursday, November 16 2023 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
Preparations for the games are to begin today, November 13 2023 as Peseiro had last week released a 23-man list of players who will be participating in the game on Thursday.
The players are expected to start arriving in Uyo on Monday, November 15, 2023.
“Officials of the Super Eagles have started arriving in the Akwa Ibom State capital and the players are expected to start trooping into town on Monday.” the NFF head of media, Ademola Olajire said.
The 23-man list released by Coach Peseiro has the Bayer Leverkusen striker having his maiden call-up while Napoli star Victor Osimhen, AC Milan’s Samuel Chukwueze and Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi will not be participating due to injuries.
The Super Eagles after their duel with Lesotho on Thursday will go head-to-head with Zimbabwe on Sunday, November 19 2023 at the Huye Stadium, Butare.
