The National Union of Bonny Students (NUBS) has lauded the Lawmaker representing Bonny Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Abinye Pepple, and Chairman of Bonny LGA, David Irimagha, for providing them with palliatives during the harsh days of the lockdown occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a statement by National President of NUBS, Daniel Chapp-Jumbo thanked the duo for listening to their plea and coming to their aid.

“Our first cry was heard by Hon. Engr. Abinye Blessing Pepple who assisted us financially with which we used to get the first trench of palliatives and shared to Bonny students through their respective chapters/schools. To this we say thank you so much, Sir.”

“Then we cried out to our able and capable silent achieving LGA Chairman, Hon. Engr. David Irimagha R, who in turn heard us and supported us with a truckload of palliatives. To this, we say thank you so much, Sir for being a father to us.”

Chapp-Jumbo, a student of Electrical/Electronic Engineering at the Rivers State University, Nkpolu Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt, noted that in the face of the global pandemic it was imperative that students toe the path of living rightly and safely.

“The year 2020 so far has been an eventful one, one in which we all never saw coming but have been charged by nature with the responsibility of living rightly and safely especially in this era of a global pandemic.”

“Having faced the national lockdown and state lockdown, there came the Bonny LGA lockdown which lasted for two weeks and two days. My leadership team and I, with the understanding that welfarism is the hallmark for unionism, took upon ourselves to ensure the welfare of students.”

He called on all Bonny students to converge at the Bonny Youth Federation (BYF) Secretariat along King Asimini Bypass on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, to collect their share of the palliatives.
