The people of Bille Kingdom in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State have cried out over incessant pirates’ attacks on their waterways.

Speaking with Kristina Reports, Coordinators of the #ENDSEAPIRACY Protest, Beleari Dokubo and Dauseighe Bowei condemned in strong terms the senseless attacks on their waterways, saying that they live in perpetual fear without assistance from government and security operatives in the state.

The peaceful protest recorded huge success as men and women, including youths, went round the community, chanting songs with placards to register their grievances.

They maintained that the security operatives, especially, those of the 29 Battalion of the Nigerian Army based in Bille, are not doing enough to stop the ugly trend.

They equally lambasted the Rivers State Government for shying away from its responsibilities of protecting the lives and properties of members of the community.

The women, especially, mothers of Bille kingdom came out in their numbers and warned that any Chief that fails to turn up on Saturday to join in the protest will be sanctioned and also bear the risk of losing their houses.

They pointed out that, as mothers, they would not want to lose their husbands and lovely children to pirates’ attacks furthermore.
