Special Adviser to Khana LG Chairman Exonerates Boss from Allegations

The Special Adviser on Entertainment and Performing Arts in Khana Local Government Area, Lexy Mueka, has dismissed allegations made against the Chairman, Thomas Bariere, by Gani Topba, describing them as false, misleading, and a calculated smear campaign.

Mueka was today, March 22, 2026, reacting to statements reportedly made on a radio programme, where Topba allegedly accused the Khana LG chairman of appointing individuals linked to cultism and attempting to portray members of the administration in a negative light.

In a strongly worded response, Mueka publicly rejected the claims in their entirety, insisting that the allegations are “false, unsubstantiated, and deeply unfair,” warning that such statements are capable of damaging reputations and undermining ongoing developmental efforts in the area.

“For those who know me, it is clear that I would never be part of any structure that promotes criminality or undermines community progress,” he said.

Defending the administration, Mueka maintained that Thomas Bariere remains committed to youth empowerment and community development, describing the chairman as a known advocate against cultism.

He pointed to ongoing initiatives, including preparations for the Khana Creative Industry Summit, as evidence of the administration’s focus on creating opportunities and building a structured creative economy across Khana and the wider Ogoni community.

Mueka further urged members of the public to be cautious of misinformation, particularly claims not backed by verifiable facts, emphasizing that leadership should be judged based on visible impact rather than baseless accusations.

Reassuring residents, he said the chairman’s intentions remain genuine, with a continued commitment to transparency, collaboration, and sustainable development.

“In times like this, what matters most is character, consistency, and results,” Mueka added.
