Small in Appearance, Big in Ability: Sodienye Jumbo Praises Son’s Investiture as 9th NIMechE Chairman

The Chairman of Jumbo Major House of Grand Bonny Kingdom, Warialabo Sodienye Jumbo, has lauded his son for bringing pride to their family.

He expressed his sentiments on Saturday, March 23, 2024 during the investiture ceremony of Promise Jumbo, who was inaugurated as the 9th Chairman of the Port Harcourt Chapter of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (NiMechE) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Warialabo Jumbo, who himself is an engineer, was the Royal Father of the day, and was presented with an award of appreciation during the event.

He expressed joy at his son’s achievements while anticipating greater accomplishments from him, describing the new NiMechE Chairman as “small in appearance but big in ability.”

Conveying warm greetings from the Jumbo Major House and the Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of Grand Bonny Kingdom, His Majesty, King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, CON, DSSRS, JP, Perekule XI, Warialabo Jumbo asserted that was the beginning of even greater success for the family.

“Let me begin by thanking God for bringing us here safely from our various destination to witness this special event”.

The new Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Mechancal Engineers (NiMechE) being investitured while his wife and other officials watc on with delight during the event.

“We’re coming from Grand Bonny Kingdom, host community to NLNG and other IOCs, and we pride ourselves as the town that’s carrying Nigeria economically.”

“I bring warm greetings from the Jumbo Major House, and especially from our revered king – His Majesty, King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, CON, the Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of Ancient Grand Bonny Kingdom.”

“We are happy to be here to witness the investiture of our son and brother Engr. Dr Promise Jumbo as the 9th Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Port Harcourt Chapter. We celebrate him on this achievement but we see it as the beginning of bigger things to come”.

“Engr. Dr Promise is a humble person from a very humble background. He is intelligent, hardworking and focused. I usually describe him as small in appearance but big in ability.”

“Yes, whatever he sets his mind to achieve, he achieves it. We thank him for making us proud. We have confidence he’ll deliver on this assignment.”

“We also congratulate the new exco members who will be working with him. It’s our prayers that God Almighty will grant you a successful tenure in Jesus name.”

In an interview with Kristina Reports on the sidelines of the ceremony, Promise Jumbo outlined numerous programmes and activities planned for his tenure to enhance the institution’s growth and effectiveness.

Regarding the investiture lecture on “Challenges of Mechanical Equipment Maintenance and Abandonment in Nigeria,” Promise emphasized the significance of maintenance in national development, stressing the need to maintain existing equipment to avoid unnecessary imports.

“Maintenance is a key in every country, as a country you know we don’t manufacture a lot, we only import. So, the best way we can move on is to maintain equipment we have already imported and the truth is that there is lack of maintenance in our society.”

“So, as a foremost institution that is in charge of maintenance and members more to make sure that equipment that are not completely bad that can be maintained should be maintained so that we don’t just waste money importing more of those equipment.”

Earlier in his inaugural address, Engr. Jumbo reiterated his administration’s commitment to excellence in professionalism, innovation, welfare, and activity execution.

Delivering the investiture lecture titled; “Challenges of Mechanical Equipment Maintenance and Abandonment in Nigeria”, Dr. Steve Ayiyi, highlighted the challenges in mechanical equipment maintenance and proposed some solutions, including the establishment of more technical institutions.

The event also featured the handover by the immediate past Chairman of NiMechE, Jarikre Etedezi, induction of new fellows, oath-taking by new executive members, and speeches by distinguished personalities such as the National Chairman of NiMechE, Alhassan Mohammed, and the Chairman of the Port Harcourt Chapter, Idaeresoari Ateke.
