Save Us from Your DPO – Tobin House Send SOS to IGP, CP After Acid, Stabbing Attacks on Owu-Ogbo in Finima
The Tobin Konibo-ye-Awanta Chieftaincy House of Bonny Kingdom has cried out to the Inspector General of Police and Rivers State Commissioner of Police for protection and justice after what they described as a “heinous and unprovoked” attack that left some of its family members stabbed, others doused with acid, and their sacred masquerade regalia stolen.
The assault, allegedly carried out by members of the Brown House on Saturday, September 27, 2025, also saw several homes and belongings destroyed. Victims of the violence are said to be battling serious injuries, while many others remain traumatized by the scale of the attack.

In a public notice issued on Sunday, September 28, 2025, and signed by its Chairman, Darlington Tobin, the Tobin House lamented that despite the gravity of the incident, officers of the Finima Police Division who were present failed to intervene to protect lives or property.
Even more troubling, the family alleged that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Finima Division, Mukhtar Mahdi later declared their formal entry invalid and refused to issue a medical police report.
This refusal, they said, has denied those injured by the stabbing and acid assault the urgent medical treatment they need.
“The silence and inaction of the police in the face of such heinous acts embolden violence and put the safety of our people at further risk,” the family said.
They described the development as a “grave violation of justice and a dereliction of duty” and warned that continued inaction by security agencies would only fuel more violence in the community.

The Tobin House has therefore called on the Inspector General of Police, through the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, to urgently investigate both the perpetrators of the attack and the conduct of the Finima DPO.
They also appealed to human rights organizations, civil society groups, and the general public to take note of what they called “a dangerous trend that threatens the peace and safety of innocent citizens.”
While emotions remain high, leaders of the Tobin Chieftaincy House have urged their members to remain calm and law-abiding as lawful avenues are pursued to ensure justice.
“We will not relent until justice is served. We owe it to our injured members, to our heritage, and to the peace of our community,” the statement concluded.
Enquiries sent by Kristina Reports to the Rivers State Police Command through its Public Relations Officer over the conduct of its men in Saturday’s incident in Finima were yet to be responded to as at the time of this report.
Also, enquiries sent to the Amadabo of Finima, Aseme Alabo Dagogo Lambert Brown on the allegations of the Tobin House have yet to be replied as at the time of this report.
