Sabinus Defends Peller Amid Breakup With Jarvis, Urges Nigerians to Show Empathy

Popular Nigerian comedian Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, professionally known as Sabinus, has publicly defended TikTok star Peller following his reported breakup with his partner, Jarvis, amid intense online criticism.

Sabinus spoke on the matter on Monday, January 5, 2026, during a live session with social media influencer Sandra Benede, where he addressed the backlash trailing Peller’s emotional actions after the breakup.

The defence followed weeks of controversy surrounding Peller, whose relationship with Jarvis collapsed in December 2025, triggering widespread conversations on social media.

The situation escalated in December 2025 after Peller was involved in a car crash along the Lekki–Epe Expressway, an incident that occurred shortly after a public disagreement with Jarvis and raised concerns about his emotional wellbeing.

The incident, which happened while Peller was on a livestream, attracted massive attention online and drew criticism, sympathy and speculation from Nigerians across social media platforms.

On January 1, 2026, Peller officially confirmed the end of his relationship with Jarvis during a TikTok live session, urging fans to respect their decision and stop the online attacks.

“Jarvis and I have officially broken up.”

“Please respect our decision and don’t bully anybody,” Peller said during the livestream.

He also disclosed that he had apologised to Jarvis’s family following the incident and that the matter had been resolved amicably.

In reaction to the criticism directed at Peller, Sabinus said Nigerians should stop judging the influencer harshly, stressing that heartbreak can push people into making irrational decisions.

“Jarvis has finished Peller.”

“I have been in Peller’s situation before,” Sabinus said during the live session.

The comedian went further to share a personal experience to explain how love can lead people to extreme actions.

“Love is a bad thing.”

” I gifted a girl a Range Rover because of love, so nobody should blame Peller,” Sabinus added.

Sabinus’s comments were widely circulated online, drawing mixed reactions from fans and followers, with some supporting his call for empathy and others insisting that emotional distress should not excuse reckless behaviour.

Jarvis had earlier appealed to the public to stop mocking Peller and allow both parties to heal privately, describing the period as emotionally difficult.

Since confirming the breakup, Peller has stated that he intends to focus on personal growth in 2026, declaring it a “girl-free year” as he works on rebuilding his life.

The ongoing conversation has reignited debates around mental health, public relationships and the pressure faced by social media personalities in Nigeria.
