The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Victor Oko-Jumbo has expressed confidence in the capacity of the Bonny Kingdom Development Committee (BKDC), indicating his readiness to partner with the Committee to drive development in Bonny LGA.
According to a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Stephen Banigo, Oko-Jumbo gave this indication on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, when he received members of the BKDC in audience at his residence in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The BKDC delegation, which was led by its Chairman, Amairigha Hart, also had the President of the Bonny Kingdom Titled Citizens Assembly, Furosia Wilcox, and Leader of Alapu-Taa (wives of Chiefs), Carol Allison, amongst others.
The Rivers Assembly Speaker stressed that the BKDC was populated by individuals who exude competence and passion, assuring them of collaboration, while stating that Bonny happens to be his constituency and place of primary assignment.
On his part, the Chairman of the Bonny Kingdom Development Committee, Amairigha Hart said the visit was to seek opportunity to deliberate with the Speaker on matters requiring collaborative attention with a view to impactfully advance the cause of Bonny LGA, commending him for a successful first year in office.
Hart further stated that the purpose for the visit was to seek governments’ partnership towards achieving the Committee’s mandate as set out by the Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom, which is to serve as a coordinating body for development initiatives across the Kingdom.
He stressed that the goal of BKDC was to accelerate Bonny Kingdom’s anticipated development agenda while collaborating closely with key stakeholders, pledging to encourage the projects, investments, and growth index that will come to Bonny.
