Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike assigns portfolios to New Commissioners

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has assigned portfolios to the 13 new Commissioners he inaugurated on Monday, December 30, 2019 in Port Harcourt.

Curiously, the very critical Ministry of Finance still has no one superintending it.

According to the statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, Governor Wike was expectant that the new Commissioners will be committed to deliver on the agenda of the Rivers State Government and work for the interest of Rivers State. 

The Commissioners were assigned portfolios as follows: Sam Ejekwu, Transport, Austin Ben-Chioma, Works, Sylvanus Nwankwo, Employment Generation and Economic Development, Osimah Gina, Physical Planning and Urban Development, Inime Chiwenwo-Aguma, Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, and Ifeoma Nwankpa, Commerce and Industry.

Others are Dr Peter Medee, Energy and Natural Resources, Dr Bariere Thomas, Special Duties, Dr Fred Kpakol, Agriculture, Paulinus Nsirim, Information and Communication, Tasie Chinedu, Housing, Rodaford Long-John, Local Government Affairs, and Professor Kaniye Ebeku, Education.

According to the statement, they are to resume duties immediately.
