Rivers State Commissioner for Housing, Tasie Nwobueze has charged civil servants in the State, especially, staff of his Ministry to remain professional and dedicated to work while looking out for each other.
Nwobueze gave this charge today during a brief handover ceremony in his office where he handed over the reins of the ministry to the Permanent Secretary, Dirokweni Amiofori.
The Commissioner stated that the handover was in compliance to a directive from the State Governor, Nyesom Wike, for all political appointees to hand over to the next most senior officer in the ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).
He expressed appreciation to the Governor for the trust reposed in him and the opportunity to serve the State at that level.
The outgoing Commissioner appreciated Amiofori, the Directors and staff of the Ministry for working cooperatively with him since he assumed office in September, 2017.
He emphasised that they should focus on posterity as what was of paramount importance was “leaving good records and creating good and cordial relationships,” which he described as “key benefits that pays beyond the present”.
Nwobueze enjoined them to extend same family relationship he enjoyed to whomever may succeed him.
Speaking on behalf of the staff of the Ministry, after receiving the handover notes and keys to vehicles of the Ministry, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dirokweni Amiofori, thanked the outgoing Commissioner for not just being a father figure to all through his tenure but for also bringing professionalism to the front burner, promising that the staff will keep fire burning.
He enjoined staff never to be lackadaisical with their work but to be committed and dedicated as if they are working for precious prize, admonishing them to discharge their assigned duties with the fear of God.
