Otti Visits Aba Fire Scene, Commends Emergency Response

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has visited the site of the recent fire incident at a facility linked to Nigerian Breweries Plc in Aba, expressing gratitude that no lives were lost in the outbreak.

The governor, who visited the facility on Friday, April 10, 2026 after the incident the previous day, assessed the situation firsthand, noted that the damage was limited to empty crates, averting what could have been a more devastating incident.

He praised the swift and coordinated response of the Abia State Fire Service and other emergency agencies, whose timely intervention helped contain the fire before it spread further.

“I am grateful to God that no lives were lost and that the damage was limited,” Otti said. “The quick response of our fire service prevented what could have been a major disaster.”

During the visit, the governor also met with the Chief Engineer of Nigerian Breweries in Aba, Engr. Benjamin Okore, who briefed him on the company’s immediate response and collaboration with emergency teams.

Otti emphasized the importance of strong partnerships between government and private sector operators in safeguarding lives and property, describing the incident as a reminder of the need for constant vigilance.

While reaffirming his administration’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment, the governor noted that Nigerian Breweries has remained a longstanding corporate presence in the state.

“Abia remains a home for all Nigerians, and we will continue to support businesses while ensuring the safety of lives and property,” he added.

The fire, which occurred earlier, has since been brought under control, with normalcy restored to the area.
