In a significant stride towards digital transformation, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) is set to conduct its 2025 Governing Council Election using advanced digital tools, reaffirming its commitment to professionalism and excellence.
The election will take place on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Uyo, the Akwa-Ibom State capital where the institute is currently holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM).

According to the NIPR Electoral Committee, accreditation of eligible voters will close at exactly 10:00 AM, while voting is scheduled to commence at 11:00 AM and end at 2:00 PM.
The election is expected to usher-in a new governing council which may give room to a another set of Governing Council Members which would in turn elect a new president.
Among other contestants is the incumbent President, Dr Ike Neliaku who is seeking for a re-election after a first two years tenure many describe as transformative.
To ensure a smooth and transparent process, the electoral committee stated in a guideline leaflet that members will receive their Voter ID and Voter Key via email and SMS, 12 hours prior to the election.
These credentials will grant them secure access to the Voting Portal, where they can confidently make their choices.

The voting procedure is straightforward: Members are to check their email and SMS for the unique Voter ID and Voter Key, alongside a link to the Voting Portal.
Upon visiting the portal, they will log in using these credentials. Voters can then view the list of contestants, select their preferred candidates, and review their choices before final submission.
The voting portal will officially be open from 12:00 NOON to 3:00 PM on election day.
A Support Desk will be stationed beside the registration point to provide assistance throughout the process.
The NIPR has continued to uphold global standards, ensuring that this year’s council election is not only credible but also seamlessly tech-enabled for the first time in the institute.
