Nigerian Army, DSS Reiterate Partnership for Enhanced Security, Operational Success

The Nigerian Army (NA) and the Department of State Services (DSS) have restated their commitment to sustain ongoing partnership to ensure enhanced security coverage and operational success.

The Commander, 6 Division Garrison, Nigerian Army and Commander, Sector 3, Joint Task Force (JTF), South-South, also known as Operation DELTA SAFE, Brigadier General Edet Effiong; and the State Director of Security (SDS), DSS, Rivers State, Clara Olika gave this indication recently in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The occasion was a familiarization visit on Thursday, September 8, 2023 by the SDS DSS to the 6 Division Garrison, NA at Bori Camp, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

A statement by the acting Deputy Director, 6 Division, Army Public Relations, Major Danjuma Danjuma, said the 6 Division Garrison Commander assured the SDS DSS Rivers State of the maximum support and cooperation of the Garrison under his watch, especially during joint operations and also in the area of intelligence sharing.

Brig. Gen. Effiong stated that the DSS should not hesitate to call in assistance from 6 Division Garrison whenever there are challenges, expressing optimism of a functional collaboration in addressing operational exigencies, reiterating that the Garrison will work to reinforce the much needed synergy amongst security agencies in the State.

Earlier, the SDS DSS Rivers State, Clara Olika harped on the need for synergy among security agencies hence the need to familiarize herself with sister Services in the State, stressing that this is necessary to maintain the existing cordial relationship between the DSS and the Nigerian Army.

She appealed to the 6 Division Garrison to oblige the DSS whenever they come calling, stressing that the demand of the contemporary operational environment calls for cooperation amongst security agencies.
