Nigeria LNG, BOCCIMA Partner for Bonny Kingdom Economic Development

The drive to bolster the economy of Bonny Kingdom in Rivers State received a boost as two critical stakeholders, the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG) and Bonny Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (BOCCIMA), moved to consolidate on their partnership to harness resources and leverages to upscale the economy of the area.

This became evident when the President of BOCCIMA, Amairigha Edward Hart led members of the Executive Council of the chamber on a Courtesy Call on the NLNG on Wednesday, July 27, 2021 at the Corporate Head Office (CHO) of the company in Port Harcourt.

They were received by NLNG’s Manager, Community Relations and Sustainable Development, Godson Dienye, who was accompanied by Uzoamaka Nwaobilor of Partnerships Department, NLNG.

Expressing hopes of BOCCIMA and NLNG striving together to move Bonny Kingdom to greater economic development, Hart congratulated the foremost gas company in sub Saharan Africa for the successful groundbreaking ceremony for its Train 7 project achieved as at June, 2021, praising the company for sustaining its positive record of being the greatest contributor to the economic growth of the country.

“We are very proud of what NLNG has been doing. NLNG is one of the organisations in the country that is doing so well and contributing to the growth and development of the country.”

The Director General and Executive Secretary of the Chamber, Constance Nwokejiobi shared the plans of the Executive Council leveraging on the work done by their predecessors, highlighted areas the Chamber can support NLNG in its intervention programmes and shared areas of partnerships with the company.

Responding, their host, Godson Dienye commended BOCCIMA for sustaining the drive for business development of its members and their contributions to the development of Bonny Kingdom.  

He congratulated the new Executives for the great strides, promising the support of the NLNG to ensure that Bonny Kingdom derives the best benefits due to its business community, expressing NLNG’s desire to see through the business development of the Kingdom through a credible body such as BOCCIMA.

On her part, the 1st Deputy President of BOCCIMA and Vice Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Anengi Barasua, expressed appreciation to the NLNG for it positive disposition towards the Chamber evidenced in granting audience to the BOCCIMA delegation, calling for a periodic review of strategic engagement between both organizations to ensure harmony in “our plans to ensure tracking and monitoring of progress from both parties”.

The BOCCIMA delegation had the 2nd Deputy President, Dienye Willie-Pepple, Financial Secretary, Chidiebere Myke-Obialor, Public Relations Officer (PRO), Dabota Jumbo, and External Auditor, Hugh Halliday.
