Nekede’s SICT Summit 1.0 to Champion Innovation Through Collaboration
The School of Information and Communication Technology (SICT), Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, is set to make a bold statement on academic collaboration and student engagement with the launch of its maiden SICT Synergy Summit 1.0, a gathering expected to unite key stakeholders in the pursuit of excellence and innovation.
The summit is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, by 9:00 a.m. at the institution’s 1000 Capacity Auditorium.

With the theme of synergy embedded in its identity, the event seeks to bridge gaps between departments, strengthen relationships among students and lecturers, and create a platform where ideas can thrive.
The institution’s Rector, Dr. Basilia Igbokwe, will serve as the Chief Host, lending the weight of the institution’s leadership to what many are already describing as a defining moment for the School of Information and Communication Technology.

The summit is being championed by the Dean of SICT, Dr. C.A.N. Nwachukwu, FNCS, while Dr. Oyedepo Victoria A. (Ph.D.) heads the organising committee as Chairman while Aniekan-Abasi Ibengé Edet serves as Secretary of the committee.
In what reflects a broad-based approach to institutional development, heads of departments within the school are expected to participate actively.
They include Dr. S. A. Oladimeji, Head of the Department of Computer Science; Dr. Linda Ikechukwu, Head of the Department of Mass Communication; and Dr. Chris Enyia, Head of the Department of Library Science.

Student leaders are also taking centre stage in the initiative. Sampson Success, President of the National Association of Computer Science Students (NACOS); Christian Courage, President of SICT/ASMACS; and Nwaigwe Prisca C., President of NALISS, are listed among principal figures expected to rally students towards the summit’s objectives.
Bearing the inscription, “Knowledge & Skill for Service,” the event flyer captured the essence of the summit, a gathering designed to inspire collaboration, develop talent and prepare students for impactful service in society.
The organising committee, through details contained in the promotional material, presents the summit as more than an academic event.

It is a call to collective action, an opportunity for educators, administrators and students to embrace the power of collaboration in shaping the future of information and communication technology education.

As anticipation builds across the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede community, expectations remain high that SICT Synergy Summit 1.0 will lay the foundation for a lasting tradition, one where innovation is inspired, leadership is nurtured, and service remains at the heart of learning.
If its promise is fulfilled, the summit may well mark the beginning of a new chapter for SICT, proving that the greatest achievements are born when individuals and institutions move forward together under a shared purpose.
