Navy Hands Over Arrested Suspects, Suspected Illegal Substances in G-Unit Raid to NDLEA in Bonny
In furtherance of inter-agency collaboration, the Nigerian Navy has handed six suspects and several kilograms of substances suspected to be illegal drugs to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Bonny, Rivers State.
The suspects were arrested during a raid by a joint security team comprising the Navy’s Forward Operating Base, NDLEA Bonny Area Command, and Okoloma Security Team at the Ama-Awusa (Hausa Quarters) in Amaomu area of Bonny, popularly known as G-Unit, an area notorious for illicit drug peddling and other sundry crimes.
The brief handover ceremony was done at the FOB Bonny where the suspects and suspected illicit substances were handed over by the Regulating Officer of the Base, Lt A. Y. Buniyamin to the Deputy Area Comptroller, NDLEA Bonny LGA, Kikpoye Olokirika.
The FOB Bonny, in a statement, said the raid, which was predicated on actionable intelligence, took place on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at about 18:55 hours, yielded six suspects and the confiscated illegal substances.
The suspected drug peddlers include Stanley Nwoke, Emmanuel Udeme, Umaru Ibrahim, Maxwell Hillary Pepple, Progress Pepple and Destiny Halliday.
The recovered exhibits include 250 tablets of exol 5, one meth pipe, 117 wraps of cannabis sativa, 50 wraps of methamphetamine, eight capsules of 100mg tramadol, three packs of cannabis sativa, and 70 wraps of heroine.
The said operation is significant as it was same vicinity where one of five suspected drug peddlers arrested there stabbed an NDLEA officer, who later died from the injury he sustained.
Assertions from the FOB Bonny and NDLEA were that the raids will be sustained as an aggressive strategy to rid the area of illicit drug and the peddlers.
