My Life, a Testimony of God’s Grace, Mercy – Amadabo of Finima at 60th Birthday

The Amadabo of Finima, Aseme Alabo Dagogo Lambert Brown, says the whole gamut of his life including his achievements are a testimonial of the workings of God’s grace and mercy.

He said this on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at his 60th birthday ceremony at Finima in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State, expressing gratitude to God Almighty for bringing him thus far in life.

Aseme Alabo Brown, who is the Chief and Head of the Buoye Omuso Brown Major House (BOBH) of Finima, recounted the unique attributes of Finima Community, noting that it could only have been God, stressing that “no be me do am, na God. My testimony, ate duo Tamuno piribem? (what do I say to God?)”.

“So, I want us to take our time to praise God. As far as Jesus is with me, I am not alone. That’s my testimony, it’s by grace, it’s grace. The Bible says it’s not of him that runneth but God that sheweth mercy.”

He pointed out that from his educational qualifications to ascending the stool as Chief and Head of the Brown House, it was God’s grace that has always propelled him, asserting that “there were always those who were better than me or ahead of me”.

“Mercy is connected with grace; grace is connected with faith; Everything about me is God. Everything I passed through in life, everything I experienced in life is by grace because when I look at all the places I found myself, from school to becoming the Amadabo, it is God.”  

The event, which paraded a colourful audience comprising the Chief and Paramount Head of Edwin Tom-West Chieftaincy House of Buguma, Kalabari Se-Alabo Somina Edwin Tom-West India, Edwin III, Iwayi-Izi I of Rumuadaolu Clan, Chief Stephen Atuzie, Pali Alabo Felix Yellow Brown, Pali Alabo Victor Tom Brown, Alabo Senibo Frank Briggs, members of the BOBH Council of Wari-Alapu, the elders, women, youths and residents of Finima Community, held at the Finima Townhall.

Giving his charge at the event, the Vicar of St. Patrick’s Anglican Church, Finima, Ven. Promise Jaja observed that the celebrant parades sterling qualities which are amplified by his telling love for God and observable humility, urging everyone to emulate Aseme Alabo Brown and “make Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour”.

“I have seen a lot of sterling qualities in him but the one touches me the most is that he is a lover of God. He loves God and he is a so humble. Everything around his life is centred on the grace of God.”

Proclaiming the anointing of Joshua and Nehemiah on the traditional ruler, Senior Pastor of the Hilltop International Christian Center, Reverend Chris Oarhe, who was accompanied by his wife, Dr. Stephanie Oarhe, prayed for strategic success in leadership, successful spiritual warfare and prosperity and successful strategies to be divinely conferred on him.

In their goodwill messages, the Head Chief of Cockeye Brown War Canoe House, Kalaomuso Polo, Alabo Edwin Cockeye Brown, and the Chairman of the BOBH Council of Wari-Alapu, Wari-Alabo Airigha Brown eulogized the celebrant, enumerating his fine qualities and sterling virtues, praying for continued divine guidance and protection over him.

Highpoint of the event was the cutting of the birthday cake by the celebrant, accompanied by his wife, Aseme Alabota Atonye Brown, and dignitaries and guests.

In a chat with Kristina Reports on the sidelines of the event, younger brother of the celebrant, Idatonye Lambert Brown expressed his deep appreciation to God Almighty for giving an elder brother like the Amadabo from whom he draws inspiration.

The younger Lambert Brown, who was the Public Relations Officer of the BOBH Asawo, saying that celebrating his elder brother at his diamond birthday was an understatement, pointing out that his impact on lives of people around him and strengthening of institutional integrity in all the organizations he has been involved with are worth emulating, adding that “more importantly, he has served God well”.
