For responding to their cries for intervention in fixing the only bridge linking their section of Abalamabie Community with other parts of Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State, the Abraham Hart Chieftaincy House has applauded the Chairman of the LGA, Dame Anengi Wilcox.

The House hosted Dame Wilcox and her guests, amongst whom were the Chief of Staff to Rivers State Governor, Emeka Woke, a former Commissioner for Transport in the State, George Tolofari, Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bonny LGA and Vice Chairman of Bonny LGA, Omoni Longjohn, to a grand reception at Abraham Hart compound in Abalamabie Community.

According to the Vice Chairman of the House, Amaopusenibo Samuel Hart, the reception, which held shortly after the commissioning of the Abraham Hart Motorable Bridge by Chief Woke, was in appreciation of the Bonny LGA Chairman for constructing the bridge and also honouring Dame Wilcox who is the wife of the Chairman of the Bonny Chiefs Council (BCC), HE Se-Alabo Dagogo Claude Wilcox.

Delivering an address at the brief event, Amaopusenibo Samuel Hart said that “on behalf of the Chairman, Cabinet and entire members of Abraham Hart Chieftaincy House, our brothers and sisters of the Hart Major House section and, indeed, the people of Abalamabie Community, express thanks to God Almighty for making this day a reality”.

“We thank God also for blessing Bonny Local Government at this time with a humane, determined, positively responsive and people-oriented woman of valour as our Executive Chairman.”

“As a House and Community, we are particularly grateful to you Dame, Alabota, Hon. Anengi Barasua Claude Wilcox for your prompt response in not only reconstructing this bridge, but in also redesigning and expanding it from a foot bridge to a one lane bridge.”

The now reconstructed bridge, which had failed several years ago, was the only link between the three sections (Abraham Hart, Abraham Jumbo and Hart) of that axis of Abalamabie Community and other parts of the LGA.

In reconstructing the bridge, the Bonny Local Government Council ensured it was motorable by reinforcing with concrete and corrugated steel stretching a distance of about 300 meters, almost seven feet thick and supported by reinforced pillars driven deep into the soil. This ensures that it remains sustainable and serves the end users for a long time.

Noting that it provided the needed support by way of security and cooperation for the project to succeed, the Abraham Hart House used the occasion to solicit the approval of the Bonny LGA boss to connect the bridge to the major road from the Jumbo link bridge junction.

“During the construction process of the just commissioned bridge, we, as a community, ensured that the contractor’s work was not jeopardized and we guarded their equipment and materials.”

“We thank the contractor for also engaging some of our people in executing the job and for effectively interfacing with our internal committee set up to ensure that no community issue impeded the progress of construction works.”

Speaking, Amaopusenibo Samuel Hart also expressed the gratitude of the House to Rivers State Governor’s Chief of Staff, Emeka Woke for gracing the event and commissioning the bridge, adding that “through you, we convey our appreciation to His Excellency, our dear Governor of Rivers State for his trail blazing and unparalleled infrastructural development in the State”.

Responding, the Bonny LGA Chief Executive thanked the Abraham Hart House for the reception, which she described as “an rare and much appreciated honour” by the House, assuring them that the developmental passion that saw to the actualization of the Bridge and other projects being commissioned would be sustained, appealing to them to remain steadfast and supportive of the government.

Abraham Hart is one of the five families that comprise Abalamabie Community in Bonny LGA and also critical component of the Hart Major House of Bonny Kingdom.
