May Day: Bonny LG Chairman Hails Workers for Contributions to Governance

The Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Dame Anengi Claude-Wilcox has hailed people in the world of work comprising government employees and the Organized Private Sector (OPS) for their roles which she said were crucial to the successes recorded by the government.

Dame Claude-Wilcox gave this commendation on Monday, May 1, 2023 during a march past at the Local Government Industrial Unit Field, Bonny, organised by the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Bonny Chapter to mark the 2023 Workers Day Celebration.

Vice Chairman, Bonny LGA, Wariopusenibo Omoni Longjohn (standing) flanked from left by the Head of Operations, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Chief Route Commander (CRC) James Udo, Officer-in-Charge of Surveillance, Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Bonny Division, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Fubara Ogoniba, and Chairman, Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Bonny LGA, Karibi Fubara, at the event.

A statement by her Deputy Press Secretary, Boma Waribor said the Bonny LGA Chief Executive, who was represented by her Vice, Wariopusenibo Omoni Longjohn, called on the workers to do more in furthering their careers, stressing that “diligence was still a pathway to the top”.

She asserted that their hardwork, perseverance, patience and sacrifices invested in the furtherance of their job roles were mostly responsible for why Bonny was being regarded as a place for productive living.

The LG Chairman reminded the workers that her government prioritized security of life and property, built residential quarters for civil servants and improved the working conditions of those working at the Council Secretariat, amongst other interventions because those were the core determinants of a thriving work environment.

She assured them that better days were around the corner, while wishing them more beautiful working years ahead, which she expressed optimism would be marked by health, growth and peace.

Earlier, the Chairman of NULGE Bonny Chapter, Doris Hart had conveyed the gratitude of her colleagues to the LGA Boss for marching words with actions towards their welfare concerns, pledging to continue working with her for the interest of the LGA.
