The applause was massive and came in quick successions on a day Lucille Education Centre (LEC) was saying the farewells to children and teenagers under its watch to new classes and even on to tertiary education institutions.
Lucille Education Centre (LEC), a co-educational institution based in Bonny, Rivers State, Nigeria and its proprietor, Amaopuorubo Lucy Jamaica, an accomplished and seasoned educationist, were enormously praised for the avalanche of academic laurels the school garnered in the 2021/2022 academic session.
The occasion was the 2021/2022 Graduation Ceremony of Lucille Education Centre (LEC), Bonny on Friday, August 12, 2022 at the school’s main campus at Eagle Forest in Bonny.
Leading the way was the Zonal Director of Education, Ministry of Education, Bonny LGA, Samuel Jumbo, who noted that in the estimation of the ministry, LEC was adjudged the best academic institution in the area.
Next was the Chairman of Bonny LGA, Dame Anengi Wilcox, who expressed delight in the performance of the institution and the achievements of its proprietor, saying that the astounding milestones achieved by LEC) has engendered a perception of pride in Bonny people.
Represented by her Chief of Staff, Austin Pepple, the Bonny LGA boss noted that the stage of growth the now famous education institution, which has continued to win academic laurels both locally and beyond, was a product of inspiration and would continue to inspire others in the Education sector.
“Through inspiration you have put together such an academic institution that has continued to make us proud, I cannot but say that the Bonny Local Government is very proud of you and the school.”
She congratulated the graduands on their success and enjoined them view access to Education as a privilege to be cherished given that it would prepare them for the future and arm them to succeed in life.
“I congratulate you all on the success you have achieved today, especially, the best graduating students and pupils. Education is an ongoing privilege and the key to success in life. Education is preparation for the future.”
On her part, Amaopuorubo Lucy Jamaica, who has a consolidated antecedent across various responsibility segments of the Education sector in Nigeria, said the milestones achieved by the school, so far, gladdens her heart, saying that the school was on the path of realizing its vision of being “a global brand for academics and morals”.
Dame Jamaica enumerated the achievements of the school such as Winner of Nigeria LNG Science Quiz Competition 2021, Winner of King of Mathematics Contest 2021 Senior Category, Winner Queen of Mathematics Contest 2021 Junior Category, Winner Best Brain Child Competition 2022, Winner Brain Power Competition 2022, among others.
She informed that the LEC’s Senior Prefect and Overall Best Graduating Student, Merry Omina-Hart emerged best candidate in the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Rivers State, noting that these outstanding feats by the school “deserve celebration”.
Commending the graduands on their successful transition to higher grades, especially, the senior secondary students who are going on to the university, the LEC Proprietor urged them to imbibe the core values instilled in them by the school such as respect for constituted authority, godly fear, diligence, obedience, patience and responsibility, assuring them that “God will be with you in all your ways”.
Speaking, Principal of the Lucille Education Centre (LEC), Esau Enyinna stated that the strides attained by the institution would be consolidated upon, noting that the acclaimed achievements would have been possible without the support of the Proprietor of the school, the Parents/Teachers Association (PTA), staff and other relevant stakeholders, assuring that “we would do more”.
Delivering her farewell speech on behalf of the graduands, the outgoing Senior Prefect of Lucille Education Centre (LEC), Merry Omina-Hart described the day as “a day of joy,” saying that she and her fellow students were “grateful to GOD for his grace and mercies”.
She noted that “the journey to this juncture has not been a smooth one, but we have had love, support, and encouragement all the way,” expressing her gratitude and that of her colleagues to “the school, Lucille Education Centre, our amiable Proprietress, Amaopuorubo Lucy Jamacia, ever vibrant Principal Mr. Enyinna Esau, and the tenacious academic and non-academic staff” for “your input, support, and encouragement in our educational journey and life grooming”.
Highlights of the event which had in attendance a former Caretaker Committee Chairman of Bonny LGA, Simon Hart, his Chief of Staff, Adagogo Hart, Chairman of the Parents/Teachers Association (PTA) of the Lucille Education Centre (LEC), Godswill Jumbo, clergy, captains of industry, parents and guardians and staff of the school were special dance and song presentations, news casting and quiz by the students and pupils of the school.
