Additional security personnel may have arrived Bonny Island to consolidate on the number of the troops on ground to enforce the lockdown imposed on Bonny Local Government Area by the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

The security operatives who arrived Bonny were said to have been deployed from the State Police Command to assist those already on ground to ensure total compliance to the lockdown order by the Governor.

Wike had declared a lockdown on Bonny LGA on Sunday, June 21, 2020 as a way of checkmating the spread of the novel coronavirus in the area.

A top security source, who preferred anonymity, explained to Kristina Reports the deployment of additional security operatives to the area was based on intelligence report at the behest of the Governor indicating that there was the need for more men to man strategic points around the island LGA. Today marks Day 5 of the lockdown order and has so far witnessed complete compliance by residents.

The top security source explained that security reports coming from Bonny indicate that the reported compliance level was not absolutely correct as people were still traveling out of the island on a daily basis.

He further disclosed that in certain areas of the town people were seen loitering around on the streets with some of them being arrested by the Nigeria Police, pointing out that this reinforced the fact that compliance levels were not as reported in the Media.

A meat merchant at the Bonny abattoir, who does not want to be named hinted Kristina Reports that behind the abattoir passenger boats were being loaded with travelers going to Port Harcourt, disclosing further that security operatives have been mandated to stop the illegal loading happening there.

This is totally wrong. What will the lockdown achieve other than killing our people? All the stakeholders in this community know what to do but are refusing to do it because they have seen a no man’s land where they come in, flare their gas, kill our people and then lock us down to die in hunger. Can what they do in Bonny and to Bonny people be done elsewhere in this country? No way!Let them equip the clinics especially Pan OJ who seems to know what they are doing amongst the clinics in Bonny to treat residents free of charge and voila, all ailments connecting to the strange malaria and typhoid will vanish within a month.

I want to recall His Excellency’s word when Bonny Kingdom was called to Government House, where he said he will not want to be Governor to dead people, that is where we are heading to. If he van send more troops to Bonny with all the Army, Navy, Police, Civil Defense and other paramilitary operatives that are on ground. What actually does he want in Bonny? If he cares so much for Bonny, since the lockdown, the NCDC that are in Bonny should have been carrying out contact tracing to see if more people are infected but instead nothing is put in place. We should tell ourselves the truth and let me ask a question, is this lockdown a curse or a blessing to Bonny people? The issue of deaths in Bonny was tagged to Covid-19 instead of addressing the real issue of GAS that was released by NLNG on the Island. God will judge everyone that is in this ‘ABRACADABRA’. The Amakiri will not let them see the good of tomorrow because if more troops are sent to Bonny instead of letting people to stock their homes and wait for the worst. Izon people will always be protected by God Almighty.
