Though life’s challenges are hardly selective and often appear overwhelming to man, God will not allow such challenges to subsume His children but will surely give them victory in the specific circumstances they find themselves.

Pastor-in-charge of Region 5 of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Belemina Obunge stated this today in his sermon at a special thanksgiving service to send-forth the immediate past Pastor-in-charge of RCCG Rivers Province 6, Bonny, Pastor Tope Denki, and his wife, Pastor Remi Denki, at the RCCG Throne of Mercy Parish, Bonny.

Pastor Obunge, who was represented at the event by his assistant, Pastor Adesoji Oni, declared that “As the disciples of Jesus Christ did not sink with the ship they were inside, so life’s challenges will not overwhelm God’s children. You will overcome your challenges in Jesus name”.

He clarified that movement such as the one by Jesus Christ and his disciples from one point to the other is normal in human existence, noting the symbolism was that of progress, development, and growth, pointing out that such movements were associated with challenges, stressing that challenges were normal in human existence.

The revered man of God explained that God expects action from man such as obedience, worship and prayers to compel Him to act on man’s behalf, adding that “our total dependence on God prompts Him to act to give us victory in the midst of our challenges or provide for our needs”.

The Pastor-in-charge of Rivers Province 6, Pastor Matthew Ashaolu praised his successor for the numerous achievements he met on assumption of office after him, saying that he met an appreciative church that was positively impacted by the outgoing cleric.

He commended him for the leadership qualities he exuded while in Bonny, saying there was a lot to learn from him, adding that the RCCG Rivers Province 6 remained grateful to him for being a veritable instrument in God’s hand to bless the people of Bonny LGA, stressing that his labours will not be in vain.

Earlier, the leader of the Good Men Fellowship of the church, Pastor John Collins remarked that Pastor Denki and his wife were an inspiration to both the men and women of the church during their time in Bonny, saying that the lessons learnt under his leadership remain the guiding planks upon which many members, especially, the men were managing the homes.

Responding, Pastor Tope Denki expressed appreciation to the members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Bonny LGA for the warm reception and submission to his leadership while pastoring them, saying that without their cooperation his tour of duty in Bonny would have been difficult and unproductive.

He pointed out that he and his wife were privileged to have provided the leadership the church needed during the time they were serving in Bonny, stressing that though the grace of God was upon him and his wife, the support of the church was critical to the achievements being credited to him.

Highlights of the event were live performances by the provincial choir and other groups in the church to honour the outgone cleric and his wife during the service.
