In pursuance of his constitutional mandate to protect the lives and properties of citizens under his domain, the Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, Dr. Thomas Bariere has offered N1,000,000 as reward for any information leading the arrest of suspected cultists who attacked Okwale Community of Nyo-Khana Kingdom in Khana LGA.
Dr Bariere announced this bounty when he visited Okwale Community accompanied by top government officials and heads of security agencies in the area
He expressed concern over the attack on the Community penultimate Thursday night by suspected cultists, which led to the destruction of properties in the area worth millions of Naira.
The apparently angry Chairman expressed regret at the development, saying no stone would be left unturned to track and arrest the culprits and restore normalcy in the area, stressing that the relative peace being enjoyed in Khana LGA would be seriously threatened if the hoodlums were left unchecked.
The Khana LGA Chief Executive urged members of Okwale Community and the entire Ogoni people to be proactive and ensure that crimes and criminality did not thrive in their localities.
He frowned at the double-faced approach of some persons in the area who claim to support the government in the day but aid and abet criminals with information to unleash terror on their own people.
He said that security agencies cannot defeat crime and criminality alone without the support of the locals and therefore charged the people to be on alert at all times so as not to allow our hitherto peaceful LGA become rampant.
The Khana council boss further offered the sum of N1,000,000 as reward for anyone with useful information that could lead to the arrest of any known cultist in the community.
