Youths of the largest chieftaincy house in Bonny Kingdom in Rivers State, Nigeria, Jumbo Major House have set in motion the process of emplacing a leadership transition with a call for Congress.
Invited to the Congress are representative youths of the over 25 Burusu (sub-houses) and communities under them.
President of the Jumbo Major House Youths Association (JMHYA), Silvestre Idanye announced this in a statement he personally signed and made exclusively available to Kristina Reports on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 in Bonny, Rivers State.
“In line with our quest to fostering lasting peace, developing an economic and impactful viable community, and implementing best practices in organizational transition, after wide consultation, dialogue and interaction with stakeholders, the Jumbo Major House Youths Association (JMHYA) hereby call to a congress, all Youths (sons and daughters) of Jumbo Major House.”
“This congress aims at ensuring a path to smooth transition as well as creating a level playing field for all interested in the affairs of JMHYA.”
The statement informed that the Congress will hold at the Jumbo Major House Opuwari on Sunday, November 5, 2023 by 2:30pm.
It further informed that attendees should adhere to the dress code of White Etibo and George wrapper for Men and White Blouse and George wrapper for women, as well as “endeavor to be prompt as we unitedly work to create a better Jumbo Major House”.
Silvestre Idanye was elected on Monday, November 9, 2020 as President of the Jumbo Major House Youth Association (JMHYA) alongside Sylvanus Omoni; Vice President, Victor Jumbo; Secretary, Franklin Jumbo; Assistant Secretary, and Allwell Lawson Jumbo; Public Relations Officer.
Other members of the Executive were Dienye Jumbo; Financial Secretary, Richard Siminialayim; Treasurer, Atemie Jumbo; Provost, David Jumbo; Auditor General, and Stanley Jumbo, Albert Jumbo, Vitalis Jumbo, Tamunosa Jumbo, Ibitoru Jumbo, and Harold Jumbo as Ex-Officios.
The outgoing JMHYA President, Silvestre Idanye, in a telephone chat with Kristina Reports, thanked “the Elders Council, Women Leader, Chairman of Jumbo House Ogbobiri Asawo, Youth Governors Forum, all the youths of our great House, as well as other stakeholders for an eventful term in office”.
Pledging to always make himself available for service to the House whenever he is called upon, appealed to the youths of the various Burusu that comprise the House “to work harmoniously to ensure a smooth transition process and produce a new and worthy leader for the youths of the House”.
