Jesse Sekidika Joins South Korean Side Gangwon FC to ignite historic Asian championship hunt

Jesse Sekidika has completed a move to South Korean top-flight side Gangwon FC, opening a new chapter in his career following a successful spell in Azerbaijan.

The Port Harcourt-born winger joins the K League club as a free agent after his contract with Sabah FK expired at the end of June 2026.

Experienced Nigerian Winger Begins New Adventure

Sekidika arrives in South Korea with a wealth of experience gathered across Europe and Asia.

The 29-year-old spent part of his development years with Portuguese giants Benfica and later featured for Turkish powerhouse Galatasaray.

Throughout his career, the Nigerian attacker has represented several clubs in different countries, earning a reputation for his pace, creativity and attacking versatility.

Strong Legacy Left at Sabah FK

Before sealing his move to Gangwon FC, Sekidika enjoyed a productive stint with Sabah FK.

He played a key role in the club’s historic 2025-26 domestic double-winning campaign after helping them lift the national cup the previous season.

During his time at the Azerbaijani outfit, the winger registered 21 goals and 10 assists in 107 appearances across all competitions, directly contributing to 31 goals.

Known for his explosive speed and powerful right foot, Sekidika will now be aiming to make an immediate impact in the K League as Gangwon FC look to strengthen their attacking options and achieve positive results in the remainder of the season.
