Imo State First Lady Speaks on Assault of Two-Month-Old, Declares Culprit Wanted

First Lady of Imo State, Chioma Uzodinma says everything will be done to arrest and bring to justice Confidence Amatobi, the father of the two-month old baby, Miracle, who is on the run after breaking his baby’s arm with a hanger.

She also promised to sustain the support for the baby and his mother until they are certified stable enough to go home, stressing that she remains committed to preventing and eliminating any form of child abuse in the State.

In a tweet on her verified Twitter handle @ChiomaUzodinma on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, the Imo State Governor’s wife acknowledged that the culprit has been declared wanted and would soon be apprehended by the relevant security agencies.

“The 31 year old culprit, Mr. Confidence Amatobi, a native of Amurie in Isu LGA of Imo State, who has since gone into hiding while trying to evade justice has been declared wanted and therefore, is being sought by law enforcement agencies.”

She also assured the public of the baby’s stable condition, stating that “the Head of Child Department at the Ministry of Women Affairs and Vulnerable Groups, Imo State, Mr. Benjamin Amaefula, reaffirmed the infant’s stable condition after the sad amputation of his right hand”.

Mrs. Uzodinma thanked the Imo State Chairperson of Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Dr. Dorothy Nnaji, the Imo State Coordinator of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Mrs. Ukachi Ukah, and everyone who collaborated to make sure that the baby gets all necessary medical attention needed.

She also promised to provide the mother of the child with the required assistance needed to ensure that the child is fine.
