“As a community, we decided to partner with the Save-A- Life Hospital in Port Harcourt, so we can arrange a free medical outreach. We found out that the Save-A-Life Mission Hospital people also have the passion for people like us in Finima, Bonny Island.”

“As people that take care of health, particularly, the type of hospital they are building now is not the olden days’ type of hospitals. The type of hospitals they are running right now is a healthcare delivery that is digital, that will see more than we used to bypass in the past.”

“So, that’s why, as a community, we are happy to partner with them to bring them into Bonny Island and to give them a place so that we will be able to attend to our health matters very well rather than every time people are going to Port Harcourt, people are going to India.”

Lamenting that the critical state of environmental pollution, especially, the low air quality in the area due to industrial activities by the multinationals to which endangers the health of the people of the area, the Amadabo said the aim of the outreach is to help the people, save lives and keep the people in good health and condition.

“Now, because of where we find ourselves in the midst of the huge industrial smoke that we inhale every day, both our plants, the animals and human beings are inhaling this huge smoke every day; and the impact of this huge smoke in our life we don’t know. Every day, it’s one form of sickness or the other.”

In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer of Save-A-Life Mission Hospital, Richard Okoye stated that the community healthcare initiatives by his hospital in and around Rivers State have brought a ray of hope.

“The problem we have is the mind, that sickness your suffering from have you gone to the hospital to check yourself very well?”

“I will support you people very well in this health center as God will help me. We will make sure that health center supports you people. It’s a government property but I’ll be able to put a number of things there to make sure that health becomes our first priority.”
