Federal Lawmaker splashes millions as business grants on constituents

Representative of Ikono/INI federal constituency of Akwa Ibom state at the National Assembly, Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo has disbursed a total of N10m on eight constituents under his Macaire Enterprise Development Scheme (MEDS).

This is aimed at boosting economic empowerment of constituents and their families.

The eight beneficiaries are JOSEPH UDORO UDORO, JOSEPH BASSEY UMOREN,ODUDU SUNDAY AKPAN, AKAM NADRAKE ESHIET, ANDREW UMOEKA,ITORO OKORUEN, OTO-OBONG EBONG UDHO and IDONGESIT NYONG

The presentation of cheques to beneficiaries was done by an aide to the lawmaker, Donald Bassey, at the Constituency Office in Oduk, Ikono Local Government Area.

“The grants represent a significant investment in the growth of local businesses and mark their inclusion into the esteemed ‘Macaire Enterprise Development Scheme (MEDS) family.”

“This initiative is a cornerstone of Ukpong-udo’s commitment to economic advancement and self-sufficiency among constituents by nurturing millionaires within the constituency through entrepreneurship” the aide was quoted.

In a related development, the federal Lawmaker has made a donation valued at N15m to bolster ward programmes across the 11 wards of Ikono Local Government Area.

The donation was made during a recent ‘Thank You visit’ undertaken by Asuquo Udo, representative of Ikono state constituency to Wards 8 and 9 in Ikono Local Government Area to appreciate constituents for their unwavering support during the last election cycle.

“This contribution is to support ongoing development in the area and complement the efforts of the representative of the Area in the State House of Assembly, Asuquo Udo”, the federal Lawmaker had said.

In respond to the kind gesture from the federal Lawmaker, the state lawmaker, Asuquo Udo, said he was committed to nurturing the relationship he has with the federal Lawmaker which spans over three decades.

“I will continue to nurture this relationship. This donation underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in advancing the development of Ikono Local Government Area”.
