The Ekiti State Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) today, Friday, September 25th, 2020 suspended Governor Kayode Fayemi, for funding the campaign of Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for his re-election last Saturday as well as Seyi Makinde’s election campaign, last year.
This was conveyed in a statement issued by the Ekiti State Executive Committee, the APC.
“Dr Kayode Fayemi, the Executive Governor of Ekiti State is hereby suspended from the party in view of his numerous and anti-party activities especially in his role in the recently concluded governorship election in Edo State which was contrary to the provisions of Article 21 (A) (iii) of the APC constitution.
“For five days prior to the Edo elections, Governor Fayemi hosted PDP big wig Mr Femi Fani-Kayode in the government house in Ado-Ekiti in the run-up to the Edo elections. It was here they perfected the coup against our party in Edo State.
“This is the same Fani-Kayode who daily abuses President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the APC as a party, as well as vital section of our country. We have evidence of that meeting,” it stated.
Also, the state party claimed that the former aviation minister said he has gone on his tour as an effort between him and the governor to build a cross-party alliance adding that hours later Fani-Kayode issued derogatory statements against the APC national leader, Bola Tinubu.
The party also revealed that Fayemi supported Seyi Makinde of the PDP which led to the defeat of APC in last year’s governorship election in Oyo State.
According to the part, it alleges that monies which were sent to Makinde for his election were intercepted by soldiers adding Mr Ayo Adegbite, Fayemi’s Chief Protocol Officer who was reportedly sacked is still the governor’s aide.
“A second tranche of money he sent to Gov. Makinde in the election was intercepted by soldiers.
“The courier Mr Ayo Adegbite, his Chief Protocol Officer was arrested and he immediately disowned and announced his sack. Mr Ayo Adegbite remains his aide till date.” the SEC stated.
