This weekend Bonny Island is bursting up in glitz and glamour as the Captain Hart Group of Houses celebrate its Chief and Head, Se-Alabo Reginald Fiene Peter Abbey-Hart, Adango XIII, who clocks 80 years of age and marks 30 years on the stool of Adango.

Chairman of the Central Planning Committee for the 80-30 celebrations and former Commissioner for Finance in Rivers State, Amaopusenibo Israel Williams told Kristina Reports that activities lined up for the celebration include special thanksgiving and dedication services at the St. Stephen’s Cathedral and Christ Army Church (CAC), both in Bonny.

Other activities include masquerade displays, live performances by various cultural groups, women and youth groups, canon shot, special music by Ibani traditional instruments such as Ikoro and Ngelenge, and choreographic dance sketches.

On hand to participate in the three day-long event are the various institutions of the Captain Hart House including the elders, women, youths and representatives of federating houses, as well as sister chieftaincy houses.

Consolidated history of Bonny Kingdom has it that the Captain Hart Major House is one of the Houses that have their roots in the Fubara Manilla Pepple Group of Houses. The Stool of Captain Hart Adango (Alias Akunnanyi) was created in 1746 AD when King Fubara Manilla Pepple, son of King Perekule, made Adango (Akunnanyi), his foster son, an independent House head.

The celebrant, Se-Alabo Reginald Fiene Peter Abbey Hart, MON, JP, a multi award winning technocrat, was born in Lagos on February 10, 1943 and ascended the stool of Captain Hart House as Adango XIII after the transmigration of his predecessor, Se-Alabo Adango Kalada Hart, Adango XII.

On his part, the Advisor on Media and Publicity, Amaopusenibo Sunny Meshack-Hart said “friends and well-wishers of our great house are cordially invited to join the Captain Hart Group of Houses in this epochal event, which promises to be memorable and interesting”.
