Development of Bonny Kingdom Remains Key Focus – Evomec

Evomec Global Services Limited (EGSL) has explained the motivation behind its sustained excellent service delivery records and robust corporate social responsibility (CSR) in one of its major areas of operation, Bonny, Rivers State, Nigeria.

Managing Director of Evomec Global Services Limited (EGSL), Chief Peter Esievo, in a telephone interview with Kristina Reports in Bonny, said the company was focused on value addition to its host communities, especially, Bonny Kingdom, which has continued to be a hospitable host.

“Bonny Kingdom, especially, the Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom, has been a very good host to us and made us feel very comfortable since we started delivering jobs here. So, you will understand why we are giving back and will continue to do so.”

Checks by Kristina Reports indicate that EGSL has been involved in key projects that have positively impacted the lives of residents of Bonny LGA.

Reports have it that these include the sandfilling of the road linking Simidia Junction at Abalamabie Road to Workers Camp; and another at Well 6 along Waterwell Road, both in partnership with the Bonny Local Government Council; reconstruction of the failed section of the Akiama Road in partnership with the Forward Operating Base (FOB), Nigerian Navy, Akiama, Bonny, among many others.

The Evomec Touch: Rain of Exercise Books to Schools

The EGSL has also reportedly donated over 10,000 exercise books to various schools in Bonny LGA in partnership with the Office of the Supervisor of Education, Bonny Local Government Council, sponsored specialized training for several residents in partnership with the Office of the Vice Chairman, Bonny LGA, the Bonny Youths Federation (BYF), Finima Youth Congress (FYC), among other organizations.

Kristina Reports learnt that these training programmes covered Scaffolding, Rope Access, Confectionery Making, Food Handling, Bead Making, Fabrication, Driving, Weaving of Native Wrappers, Fashion Designing, Cosmetology, Catering, and Pipefitting, among others.  

Esievo explained that the motivation for these huge interventions in the development trajectory of Bonny Kingdom was it avowed commitment to contribute to the progress and development of its host community, asserting that “we have to give back to our host community that has been so good to us”.

“I have always told you that Evomec is a Bonny indigene and we are very committed to see that our home, Bonny Kingdom is developed; so, anywhere there is opportunity to contribute we will do so without any hesitation.”

This trend of robust CSR has also been entrenched in its service delivery records as jobs done by EGSL has continued to receive acclaim by industry experts, with many advocating that it should be given special consideration in the forthcoming Train 7 project.

Its core service areas include earthmoving, fabrication, site preparation, and equipment sourcing, among others.   

The Evomec boss, who has become a household name around Bonny Kingdom, dismissed insinuations that Evomec was involved in the controversies surrounding the commencement of the Nigeria LNG Train 7 project, stressing that “we are not contractors to SCD JV and as such we are not aware of any of the issues you are referring to”.
