The septuagenarian medical doctor, Dr Effiong Udiminue, who was arrested and arbitrarily detained by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital has just been released reportedly without bail or charge.

Close family source have informed Kristina Reports that Dr Udiminue was now at home with his family after spending the grueling night at a police cell.

News of his release is coming hours after Kristina Reports broke the news of his detention in connection with the case of sexual molestation and inhuman treatment brought against the Deeper Life High School, Uyo by one Deborah Archibong, also known as Deborah Okezie on Facebook.

Checks by Kristina Reports had shown that 74 year old Dr. Udimidue was never mentioned in the petition by Archibong but was invited by the Police for comments.

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command did not also provide any information as to why he was detained after his interaction with the investigative panel set up by the State Commissioner of Police, Amiengheme Andrew, on Tuesday, January 5, 2021.

Some concerned members of the public had expressed worry that the Police may be bent on tilting the case to appease the complainant without resorting to fair play and through investigation.

Enquiries by Kristina Reports to the Public Relations Officer of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, Odiko MacDon as to why Dr Udimidue was detained and why he has been released without any charge or bail was yet to be responded to.

Deborah Archibong had petitioned the Akwa Ibom State Police Command alleging sexual molestation and inhuman treatment of her 11 year old son, Don Davis Iniobong Archibong at the Deeper Life High School, Uyo.

The Deeper Christian Life Ministry (DCLM), owners of the school are reported to have suspended the principal of the school and was cooperating with the independent panel set up by the State Governor, Udom Emmanuel.

Reports say, Mrs. Archibong through her lawyer had written to the school demanding the sum of N100 million as damages else she will sue the school and its owners.

The State Commissioner of Police, Amiengheme Andrew had, via a statement yesterday informed that the Police was going ahead with its investigation of the matter and would soon make its finding public.
