Some call him Comedian JP, others call him MC JP, and yet some still call him just JP…but his name is Justice Kalada Jumbo. His style of comedy has touched so many lives but big news is that he is set to wed.
But he won’t say who the lucky lady is…instead he says “Ah. Lucky where! I’m the one who is Lucky not she oo. I COMMENT MY RESERVES”.
In a chat with Kristina Reports, the popular stand-up comedian who took the entertainment world by storm stated that “If only you know who she is eh, you will just sign cheques to thank me”.
He stressed that marriage was very important and critical to one’s career as it opens doors of opportunity and favour for people.
“Yes oooo, Very important. So there are some doors I can walk into to claim my inheritance jare”.
Jumbo, who has performed on stages with Nigeria’s king of comedy, Ali Baba, AY, Gordons, I go Die, Akpororo, Okey Bakassi, amongst others, took up the sobriquets, Comedian JP and MC JP in the burgeoning phase of his career that has gone extraordinary now, though he sees this phase of his career as still a starting point.
The popular stand-up comedian, who has continued to make waves in the nation’s entertainment industry, told Kristina Reports that stand-up comedy come to represent “a lot” for him, adding that “greater things are yet to unfold itself”.
He further revealed that inability to get support from family, government and individuals were the initial challenges he had to surmount at the start-up phase of his career.
In his words: “Support from families, governments and individuals thinking it is there responsibility, until I realized that what I have on the inside is more than enough to create what I don’t have. So, I had to grow it. And I guess I’m beginning to see my fruits”.
Comedian JP noted that he had nothing much to regret in the course of his career, “just the fact I never had quick knowledge of my craft, and wasting time with chicken’s when I’m an Eagle. Hanging around people of vision tends to make you doubt your vision”.
He was, however, glad at the reception he was getting on the home front, stating that “its been fair. But I expect more so I have to work more”.
Asked how he was able to penetrate the Lagos showbiz market in such a short period of time, especially coming from far away Bonny Island, the originator of the MC JP Comedy Banquet maintained that “location doesn’t limit a man with dreams and goals because there’s no hospital too far for the sick”.
“If you know what a successful man knows then you will be at his level. I have come to understand two important keys to the top, humility and creativity…. but God is the ultimate”.
He advised young people like himself to aspire to greater heights and “no one should tie there life to anyone”.
