The Electoral Committee of the Bonny Youth Federation (BYF) has announced Anthony Banigo as winner of the election and consequently returned as the next Leader of the BYF.
Chairman of the Committee, Julie Pepple announced this on Sunday, November 12, 2023 in Bonny, Rivers State after the conclusion of collation of results for the election.
According to her, Banigo polled 81 votes ahead of his rival, Benjamin Allaputa, who polled one vote, to win the election.
He succeeds Emmanuel Finecountry, whose executive was dissolved on Friday, October 27, 2023 by the Congress of the BYF upon the expiration of his two-year tenure.
Also elected are Abarasi Abbey-Hart; as Deputy Leader, Omoni Sylvanus; General Secretary, Maureen Tobin; Assistant Secretary, Kenneth Bristol; Director of Finance, Joel Jack-Wilson Pepple; Director of Culture, and Peace Abraham-Hart; Exchequer.
Others are Tonye Willie-Pepple; Director of Publicity, Sandra Jim-Halliday; Director of Women Affairs, Sotonye Allison; Director of Pollution, Christian Pepple; Director of Security, Miyalla Wilcox; Director of Manpower, and Dovie Dublin-Green; Director of Socials.
In an interview with Kristina Reports shortly after the announcement, Anthony Banigo ascribed all glory to God, thanking the youths for voting him into office, as well as all stakeholders for their support in ensuring a hitch-free process.
He assured that his administration would ensure an ongoing interaction with the youths to chart a blueprint, define development objectives and pursue opportunities for the betterment of the youths of the LGA.
Also speaking to Kristina Reports, the outgoing Leader of the Bonny Youths Federation (BYF), Emmanuel Finecountry thanked the Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom and Chairman of Bonny LGA for their encouragement and support, stressing that his administration leaves behind a legacy of carrying everyone along.
He stated that, aside several other achievements, his executive sponsored a lot of specialized trainings for youths in the LGA, noting that the trending allegations of funds misappropriation remains unproven by those peddling them.
In a chat with Kristina Reports, Secretary of the Electoral Committee, Victor George-Pepple thanked all stakeholders for their support, pointing out that the secret to the success of the polls was the inclusivity drive of the Committee in ensuring all interests were captured.
