The embattled Leader of the Bonny Legislative Assembly, Miriam Hart says she remains the Leader of the Bonny Legislature and insists she was never impeached as widely reported in the media.

In a response she sent via SMS to Kristina Reports’ enquiry about developments at the Legislative Assembly, Hart said “I remain the officially recognized and authentic elected Leader of the house and there is no rivalry to that effect”.

She asserted that some “disgruntled members of the Bonny Legislative Assembly” attempted to impeach her by using “a fake mace they purchased from Aba”.

But Princewill Christy-Wilcox, the purported newly elected Leader denied this claim, saying that “It’s laughable that the impeached leader is talking about fake mace. I want to assure you that the impeachment process was followed accordingly”.

“It’s so unfortunate that the impeached leader does not know the relevant laws guiding the Legislative Assembly. At this point we leave it to the general public or possibly an open debate”.

Penultimate week, precisely, on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, eight members of the legislative assembly announced that they have impeached her and also removed all the principal officers. They claimed this was sequel to a motion brought before the assembly by the Councillor representing Ward 2, Kingston Robert.

In her words, “I am Rt. Hon. Miriam Alawarifagha Hart, JP, the Leader, Bonny Local Government Legislative Assembly, and I want to use this medium and opportunity to inform the good people of Grand Bonny Kingdom and the entire public to disregard the so-called purported impeachment process of the disgruntled members of the Bonny Legislative Assembly”.

“I describe such act as barbaric, uncivilized and unpatriotic moves and it’s totally and vehemently condemned as I remain the authentic Leader and my dearly beloved principal officers are irrevocably committed to the services of our dear kingdom and Bonny Local Government Area at large.”

Hart assured that “the 8th Assembly, under my watch, remains very determined and committed to provide adequate and robust legislation for our people”.

The Bonny legislative strong woman maintained that the purported action to remove her from office by her colleagues was done without the knowledge and in the absence of the sergeant-at-arms, clerk of the house, and recorder.

“The unpatriotic activities of these misguided members who invaded the assembly complex without the government employed Sergeant-at-Arms, Clerk of the House, and the Recorder, but with a fake Mace even when the House has been adjourned to enable the honourable members participate in the ongoing state NAFEST events in Port Harcourt, which they, the power mongers boycotted for their desperate selfish interests.

She stated that there was no way anyone could have performed “miraculous magic” under three months to four months. But, the truth remains that if you are not a good follower, you can never be a good leader”.
