The Bonny Kingdom Local Content Compliance Committee (BKLCCC) and the Bonny Indigenous Contractors and Suppliers Association (BICSA) have agreed to synergize towards improving the business environment in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State.
This consensus was reached on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 during a meeting between the two bodies in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Chairman of BICSA, Gift Alex-Hart, who led a delegation comprising the Vice Chairman, Charles Banigo, Secretary, Mieinye Wilcox, and a member, Godswill Jumbo, to the meeting, stated that the synergy between BKLCCC and BICSA was critical to streamlining the business environment in Bonny.
He stressed that indigenous contractors in Bonny were yet to be captured in the various business opportunities in the area, especially the Train 7 project of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG), noting that it was high time issues affecting indigenous contractors in Bonny are addressed.
Alex-Hart pledged the support of the association for the BKLCCC, expressing the hope that the budgeoning relationship between the committee and association would boost the local economy and scale up businesses in Bonny LGA.
Responding, Chairman of BKLCCC, Opuada Willie-Pepple expressed appreciation to BICSA for the engagement, noting that it was long overdue, informing that the BKLCCC was established by the Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom to ensure the implementation of local content laws in the projects in Bonny LGA.
He explained that since its establishment, the BKLCCC has been relentless in pursuing the interest of local contractors in Bonny LGA, stressing that the cooperation of all relevant stakeholders is key in ensuring that thee indigenous business community take advantage of opportunities in the area.
Also speaking, Chairman of the Monitoring Subcommitee of the BKLCCC, Olam Brown expressed his optimism that the collaboration between the BKLCCC and BICSA will yield positive results, emphasizing that though Bonny is blessed, the indigenous business community was yet to benefit maximally from the ooportunities available there.
The Bonny Indigenous Contractors and Suppliers Association (BICSA), which comprises indigenously owned businesses in Bonny LGA as members, was established to pursue the interest of indigenous contractors in the area.
